The government sharp budget cuts and layoffs will lead to larger amount of structural unemployment which in turn may cause increase competition for jobs. This could also be the case for the cancelation of multiple DEI departments in the corporate space. This increase in competition will lead to a wanted edge over competitors resulting in more subscription purchases to job hunting sites like Linkedin or Indeed.

So if more people are unemployed wouldn’t it be easier for companies to find top talent candidates without using a staffing firm?
Yes, I can see this point but they would need to identify the top talent through these sites wouldn’t they? Some studies online mention that around 60% of jobs are found through networking and referral which is interesting. I would like to find out what they classify as networking because the social aspect of these sites cause them to be a hub for networking.
